Crane Trucks: The Key to Keeping you Cool
So you’re starting to sweat more. Out door walks seem to drain you of energy more than they ever have. Your car’s automatic air conditioning seems to be blowing significantly harder than it used to. What’s going on? No, you aren’t out of shape. The summer has arrived. For a lot of us, the summer means dreadful humidity and the inability to stand outside for more than 45 seconds without feeling the initial perspiration. Summer time means heat and heat has only one true remedy: air conditioning. Imagine being somewhere or working in a building that didn’t have a central air conditioning unit. It is the most miserable thought one could have during the summer months. So it is important for us to pay homage to the tools that allow air conditioning units to be placed on to high buildings. Crane trucks are commonly fashioned from boom trucks up to 240 tons capacity, wherby 40 ton cranes are the machine of choice for most heating and air conditioning companies. These crane trucks ride around town and fit in compact sites like a boom truck, yet lift more, lift higher, reach further, and run smoother. Crane lifting is safer and more beneficial for your business. Removing a rooftop HVAC unit without a crane can be time consuming and often quite dangerous. Most crews and their crane trucks can remove the old air conditioning units, swing in the curb adaptors, then lift the new units into place with the proper equipment.
Many crane trucks for sale will come furnished with rooftop units, set up for rigging and ready for crane lifting. These cranes should come equipped with rigging appropriate to lift any major air conditioning units by crane but selecting the proper size of crane can be tricky. Over-sizing a crane wastes money; whereas under-sizing a crane may delay the project while a suitable crane is procured; and should an undersized crane be used, people, the structure, and the crane are at risk.
Now, for buildings that get really high up there, the lift height becomes extremely important for crane trucks. Lift height includes three components: the height of the rigging, the height of the load being lifted, and the difference in the elevation of the crane and the elevation where the load is being placed. The height of the rigging should include the distance between the pulley at the top of the boom and the bottom of the hook when the hook is raised to its maximum height, in addition to the height of spreader bars and other rigging. Crane trucks in areas of dire summer heat need to make sure that they can get an air conditioning unit on to a building of any height. We wouldn’t want anyone suffering now would we.
Now that we’ve seen how important crane trucks are to keeping us cool, whenever you see a crane truck for sale or a crane driving on the road, take a second to appreciate how much less you sweat because of them, and how much more comfortable they allow us all to be.
